Anti-Wrinkle Injections
Anti-wrinkle injections are commonly referred to as ‘Botox’ injections. By injecting a very small amount of toxin into the targeted muscles, it blocks the nervous system from sending signals telling it to move and resulting in temporarily relaxing the muscle for around 3-6 months. This prevents lines and wrinkles from becoming deep in the skin.
Areas we can treat with botulinum toxin A (Botox) are:
Forehead lines
Frown lines
Smile lines (around the eyes)
Gummy smiles
Bunny lines
Jaw slimming/teeth grinding
Downward turned mouth
Excess sweating/hyperhydrosis
Nefertiti neck lift

FAQs
-
Also known as Botox or botulinum toxin injections, they are a non-surgical cosmetic procedure that involves injection a form of botulinum toxin into a specific facial muscle to temporarily relax them and resulting in a reduced appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
-
They work by temporarily blocking the nerve signals within the targeted muscle, resulting in less movement of the muscle and preventing creases within the skin which creates the lines and wrinkles.
-
It is generally not considered painful, so no numbing cream is usually used in botox treatments.
-
There is usually no downtime required after anti-wrinkle treatments. There is a possibility of bruising and you will be given an aftercare information pack detailing how to maximise the best results after treatment.
-
The targeted muscle usually starts to relax around day 3 after treatment and the full effect will be on or around day 14 after treatment. If there is still too much movement please let us know.
-
The results can last around 3-4 months before the muscle returns to full movement again.
-
Some people can experience mild side effects such as redness, bruising or swelling. It’s also possible to have a headache after treatment. All side effects will be discussed in detail during your consultation.
-
You can start having treatment as soon as you start to see fine lines appearing. Botox is best used as a preventative than a cure. If you combine Botox with other skin treatments you should maintain healthy, smooth skin for many years!
-
There are some studies that show people who have anti-wrinkle treatment within the 3 months after having treatment are more likely to need stronger doses.
-
Yes they are. Top-ups are rarely required. Only about 10% of clients require a top-up.
-
Nothing is required. If it is possible to avoid taking aspirin, ibuprofen, and other anti-inflammatory drugs, please do so for 10 days prior to your appointment to decrease your chance of bruising (medication prescribed by your GP must be discussed with your doctor prior to stopping any medication). Also, it is best to schedule your appointment at least 2 weeks before major events (weddings, graduation, etc) to allow time for the effects of Botox to set in and for any possible bruising to resolve.
-
Following Botox injections, and for 1-2 hours after, exaggerate your expression in the area treated (i.e. squint, frown, purse lips, etc) to really saturate the muscle fibers. It is also recommended that you do not lie down for 4 hours. Don’t apply make-up until the following day. Avoid exercising and sauna use for 48 hours. Do not massage the area treated.
